Quote of the Day: “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.”

without comments

The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.

This quote from Aristotle, is the fourth in my Quotes of the Day based upon the supposed 10 Most Inspiring Education Quotes of All Time.

I am not sure if education always needs to be bitter.  I believe that most humans have an innate interest in learning new things, but that it is not always easy, and that other factors play into how much we enjoy or don’t enjoy learning.  The ease or lack thereof doesn’t necessarily have to dictate how much we enjoy something.  Playing a competitive sport is generally not easy, but many people love to do it.
