Set your goals high, and don’t stop till you get there – Bo Jackson

I have been reading this quote and repeating it to myself as I jog up the stairs at the Rocklin Sports and Fitness Center of California Family Fitness, where it is printed on the wall. (And while I can’t find a definitive source of the quote to being from Bo Jackson, I have found no other references to it being from someone else either.)

So, I have been thinking about what goal(s) I can believe in.  I know the best goals are those that are a little higher than we think we can do, but not something we don’t believe we ever have a hope of reaching.  And with my health, I have decided on a goal, and that is to reach our nation’s Tricentennial.  As being a Bicentennial baby (although not born on July 4), our nations founding has always been part of my identity, and it would truly be nice to be able to see it reach another 100 year beyond where I saw it from my birth.

So it has been on my mind what I must do to have a chance of reaching this.  Because as is, with my weight teetering back to slightly on the designation of obese, I have little to no chance of seeing the 300 year mark of our nation.  So I must change, to do otherwise is simply unwise, and I pride myself on thinking I have some wisdom…
